New AI station in Norway
To meet the growing demand for semen Topigs Norsvin is opening a new AI station in Norway. In early June the boars will be moving in. This is an important step in our continued development as an international supplier of swine genetics. The AI centre will be the largest of its kind in the Nordic region.
The station will have 300 boars. The expected annual production is 500,000 doses of semen per year. Approximately 340,000 doses for the Norwegian market and the rest for export. The AI station is covers an area of 4000 m2. The building is divided in four departments, with 6 m2 boar bins. For high biosecurity reasons the new AI station is located in a remote mountain area.
The new station is an important step, as the demand for high-health genetic products is increasing in the global market. Norway is known for both high health and an animal welfare-centred production. Click here for further information about this new AI station.
